1 in 5 Employees Looking to Start Own Business
Originally sent: January 7, 2005Did you know that one in five employed people are so serious about starting up in business on their own account this year that they have already written a business plan?
They do say there are lies, damn lies, and statistics, and so I guess we should take this with at least a small pinch of salt, especially as the sample was limited to only 500 people. But the survey was conducted by the UK?s largest independent insolvency and corporate recovery specialist, Begbies Traynor, and therefore does carry some credibility.
If there is even a grain of truth in this survey result, and I am sure there is more than that, it suggests there will soon be very many start up businesses around, all requiring a broad range of financial advice.
No doubt Begbies Traynor were particularly interested in the statistic because of the anticipated 40% that will need their insolvency and recovery services within the first two years. But bear in mind that means 60% should survive in business for at least two years.
