Now those of you who religiously follow my e-mail journal could be forgiven for feeling a sense of d?j? vu at this point. What about the case of John Lamberton in 2004? Wasn?t that the first inheritance tax case? Well, yes, it was ? but that was in Scotland. And remember the English and Scottish legal systems are not exactly the same. So we now have the first English case.
But first or second, and slightly different legal system or not. the moral is the same. Don?t try to cheat the public purse! Besides the morality of the issue, it is simply not worth getting involved in schemes unless you are 100% certain they are legal.
